to the needs of any event. If you are a small business that needs
audio-visual support, we can help. If you are Major League Baseball
and need over 1500 lighting instruments, 22 separate sound systems, full
video production, designers, technical directors, engineers and technicians,
we can handle that too. Around the block or around the world, large
or small, we do it well and would like to do it for you.
Under
our one roof, MSI Productions offers a full line of production support
services. Our audio, lighting, video, scenic and rigging departments
are well-staffed and equipped. We have infrastructure support to
supply drape, scaffolding, electrical, and expendables. We will partner
with you at whatever level you need. If you just need rental gear,
we have a huge inventory. If you need a full-service package, a Production
Manager will coordinate all your needs. All the logistics of design,
trucking, travel, venue interface and everything else are taken care of
properly. Communication between department heads ensures that everything
is thought out. We understand the nuance of the producer/supplier
relationship. One-stop shopping and seamless integration make you

Audio ServicesThere’s a reason that audio comes first in A/V. It’s a simple but sometimes complicated fact that your presenters need to be heard. Our audio philosophy is to provide the best gear for the job, whether for a small group meeting or a large concert. This gear is set up so that everybody can hear at the proper volume and sightlines are not blocked. Integration with all other departments is the key to success.We tailor the equipment to your needs. We stock over 300 Meyer, JBL, TAD, Woodworx, Ramsa, and Yamaha speakers, with appropriate amps and processing. Front of house or monitor mixing is handled by dozens of Yamaha and Ramsa consoles that we stock. You can mic your talent with any of our 50 UHF wireless systems or 1200 wired mics. You can play back or record on any device known to man. We have all the processing you could ever need, as well as the mountains of XLR, snakes, NL-4, etc. required to make it all happen. our present inventory, we can comfortably support four concurrent general
sessions of 7500 to 10,000 people. If you want to invite 50,000 of
your closest friends to the stadium for a concert, we’ve got the PA and
monitor gear for you.

Lighting and Rigging ServicesWhatever your lighting needs, MSI can help. Whether you just need to light a podium in a small meeting or need to produce themed lighting for an amusement area, we have the staff and the equipment to portray you in the best light. Video lighting, business theater, fashion shows, spook houses, theater and dance productions, no lighting needs are too big or too small.Speaking of big, we are San Diego’s largest and most complete lighting company. In-house we keep over 500 Source Four and Shakespeare lekos plus 1500 PAR 64’s. Hundreds of fresnels, MR-16 striplights, PAR 46, 56 and ACL’s call MSI home. You can control it all with any configuration of ETC or Strand dimming by way of an Expression 3, 2X, or other consoles. If you need your light to move, our intelligent lighting inventory consists of large numbers of Cyberlights, Intellabeams, Track Spots, Studio Color, and Martin Mac 500/600 units. Hang
it all on any or all of our 2500+ feet of truss, and use our 30,000 feet
of socopex and 10,000 feet of pin cable, camlock, etc. to hook it all up.
With 100 CM Loadstar motors, we can fly over ten large shows at once.

Video and Data ServicesWhen it comes to video, MSI can’t be beat. We offer recording, playback, projection, and switching packages to cover any need or budget. From small-screen computer projection to multi-camera auditorium image magnification, we make you look good. Projectors from Barco, Digital Projection, Sharp and Sony can fill any size screen with video or data. Our component system comes with Sony D30 triax cameras and an Echolab 5900 switcher, offering true digital component from camera to tape deck.We just did a $750,000 upgrade to our video department. We were San Diego’s first supplier to offer the Digital Projection, Inc. Power 5gv projectors, which deliver 5000 ANSI lumens at 1024x768. Feed these or our Sony VPD-S1800Q’s with signals from any of our betacam decks, Sony D-30 cameras or whatever data source you’ve got. We’ve got the interfacing and processing to handle it all. of computers, we can read, alter, draw, and plot in nearly any format used
today. Our full-sized plotters generate great-looking, detailed drawings
of your event. And you can forget FedEx and send us your files electronically.

Scenic ServicesWe have the ability to design, build, paint, cover, install and burn almost any set you’ll ever need for an industrial production. Our wood, metal, and paint shops can handle 90% of our scenic projects. For projects that exceed our in-house capabilities, we rely on our multi-year partnership with the San Diego Opera scenic shop.We
carry painted drops in inventory, as well as cycs, unpainted drops, ground
rows, torms, teasers and rigging to hang and move it, if needed.

Everything ElseThis department supports all the others by stocking a complete inventory of all the odd stuff you need to make a show. Need 500 feet of 25’ high black 23oz. Velour sewn with 50% fullness rigged as a center-close traveler? Yeah, we got that. We’ve got presidential podiums and steps for vertically-challenged dignitaries to use behind them. We’ve got that thing you’ll need to get the VL-5’s rigged just right under the stage so that they sweep the bottom of the car just as it hits its mark. We’ve got smoke, fog, rain, snow, and one weird dude in the back of the shop who knows how it all works.
